Vehicles and humanitarian materials donated as part of the “Madrid with Syria” initiative
The Municipal and Autonomous Regional Governments of Madrid are making donations to United Firefighters Without Borders and the Association of Support for the Syrian People in the form of vehicles and humanitarian materials to be sent to the Turkish-Syrian border.

The event, which was introduced by Pedro Villena, the General Director of Casa Árabe, also included the participation of Mr. Ángel García Lorite, the President of United Firefighters Without Borders (BUSF); Mr. Amer Hijazi, the President of the Association of Support for the Syrian People (AAPS); Mr. Javier Barbero, the Delegate of the City of Madrid’s Health, Safety and Emergencies Department, and Mr. Enrique Ruiz Escudero, the Assistant Director of the Department of the Presidency and Justice of the Autonomous Region of Madrid.
The Autonomous Regional Government has lent an emergency firefighting vehicle, firefighter protection equipment and tools for rubble removal activities. As for the Municipal Government, it provided a fire rescue ladder and an emergency vehicle, as well as auxiliary materials to fight fires, remove rubble and perform rescues, along with medical materials. Last of all, United Firefighters Without Borders donated a fire truck equipped with a water tank that holds 8,000 liters, in addition to ten single-family tent shelters.
The event forms part of the initiative “Madrid with Syria,” made up of a schedule of activities which include the conference to be held on Friday, January 27 at Casa Árabe in Madrid.
