Visa For Music

From November 12-15, Rabat is hosting the first International Salon, which will be a showcase for music from Africa and the Middle East

RABAT, MARRUECOS
This project has arisen at the initiative and due to the will of Brahim El Mazned, the director of Visa For Music (VFM), with the goal of creating an international cultural market related with what is now called World and Contemporary Music, as well as an inter-professional platform for the sector in the countries of the South.

This project is intended to become a useful, effective tool for strengthening South-South cooperation, thereby contributing to a correction of the current cultural imbalance between North and South, with the goal of promoting artists’ mobility, not just within the countries of Africa and the Middle East, but also between those countries and countries on other continents.

The main goal of Visa For Music is to play the role of a platform which makes the creativity and professionalism of these countries’ cultural sectors more visible within a unique environment. Therefore, it is attempting to position itself as a meeting point and place for cultural mediation that facilitates the sharing of knowledge among different professionals, promoting exchanges and encouraging cooperation in a region where cultural diversity is one of the main forms of wealth.

It is a proposal that bears in mind that African music is not geographically limited just to its own continent. Professionals and artists from both the diaspora and the Afro-Caribbean scene are equally legitimate and will both be welcome.

In addition to showcases and screenings, Visa For Music will include conferences, speed-meetings, networking and other activities, all with the goal of creating networks of knowledge and sharing among the professionals from the cultural and creative industries.

Visa For Music will cross the borders of Morocco and is presented as an indispensable annual meeting for the national and international music sectors.
