During the visit, which took place on Friday, July 11, the officers were shown around Casa Árabe’s facilities, learned about its mission and the activities it carries out, and reviewed the collaboration existing between the two centers.
The Guardia Civil University Center was created on the basis of the 2007 Military Career Law, which designed a new educational model that includes, on the one hand, general and specific military training and, on the other, a university degree within the general education system. So the Civil Guard University Center came to be created under Royal Decree 1959/2009, culminating an institutional aspiration towards commitment to the ongoing improvement of the Guardia Civil’s educational system, while continuing to acquire the essential values and principles of the military profession that contribute to providing comprehensive training to members of the Guardia Civil, enabling them to perform their duties efficiently and to carry out their tasks and their constitutional mandate of guaranteeing public safety and protecting the people’s rights and freedoms.
Its basic objectives are:
- To impart the teachings which lead to official university degrees, as an integral part of the training given to Guardia Civil officers, as well as other postgraduate degrees and lines of research involving security matters of interest to the Guardia Civil.
- To facilitate other qualifications of interest to the Guardia Civil in accordance with the requirements laid down for the general education system.
- To promote training on the values, principles of action and behavior set forth within the current laws in force.
