Prince Hassan’s conference focused on the inter-religious dialogue and co-existence between different forms of worship and beliefs in the Middle East. During his talk, the Jordanian prince proposed considering the Mediterranean to be a “middle ground,” or meeting point to create opportunities for peace, where “democratic security” prevails based on concepts such as respect for others and self-assuredness. Regarding his region in the eastern Mediterranean, known as the Mashreq, he pointed out that it requires a regional project that highlights its multi-ethnic legacy with many religions, as well as its cultural wealth. He also underlined that science with humanity must be promoted in order to build on knowledge and solidarity in a world of atomized information.
