On Thursday, April 23, we are beginning our event series with creative workshops about the historical figure of Averroes, marking the 900th anniversary of his birth. On this occasion, we invite you to rediscover his legacy through art. Sign up now and reserve your seat.

On what is now known as Calle Cairuán stands a sculpture of Averroes, a testament to Cordoba’s recognition of one of its most illustrious thinkers. This workshop invites participants to rediscover his legacy through art.

After a historical introduction to Ibn Rushd and his role in twelfth-century Cordoba, participants will get the chance to create an artistic interpretation of his portrait. Using a base print, they will be experimenting with watercolors and other art techniques to recreate the philosopher’s image, connecting with it as a symbol of knowledge and reason in Al-Andalus.
