Aida Returns (Carol Mansour, 2023. 77 minutes)
This feature film by Carol Mansour is a moving story, sometimes sad, sometimes painful, at other times humorous, and often absurd, about a multifaceted journey. On the one hand there is a journey of loss, as the director’s mother, Aida, struggles with losing herself to Alzheimer’s disease, but then finding solace from her deathbed in Beirut during her repeated
“returns” to the Jaffa and Palestine of her youth. On the other hand, it is a journey about losing one’s mother, as well as a final return trip to Jaffa, where Aida will finally find respite and become herself once again.
After the screening, there will be a film colloquium moderated by representatives of the CineCercano and Colectivo Azabache associations.
The screening has been organized with the cooperation of the CineCercano Association.
