On Thursday, October 31, archeologist Belén Vázquez is giving this tour to see different hydraulic installations in the city of Cordoba from the era of Al-Andalus. Sign up to attend.
Water was an indispensable feature in the cities of Al-Andalus. Urban life depended on its proper collection and distribution, since it was used for hygiene, cooking, making crafts and agricultural work. Its waste removal was another constant concern, which is why sewage networks and cesspools were designed.
In modern-day Cordoba, we can still see some of the water installations built by the society of Al-Andalus over one thousand years ago. During this tour, we will get a close look at some of the most important among them.
