Throughout the second half of 2024, Casa Árabe has scheduled a series of activities related with the history and heritage of Al-Andalus and the role of water during that era. Check out all of the information below.

The creation of advanced water management and distribution systems, inspired by their own knowledge and inherited from civilizations such as the Romans and Persians, gave rise to countless tangible features that we would like to highlight.

Irrigation ditches, waterwheels and cisterns, which irrigated the fields and supplied the cities, as well as the gardens and public baths (hammams) reflected the importance of water in Islamic culture, symbolizing purity and life.

This legacy still has a presence within Andalusia’s landscape and architecture, in which water is both a functional resource and a symbol of cultural and spiritual wealth.

Among the activities we have planned to discover this heritage are the following:

- Exhibition: “Journeys by Water,” by Sara Kamalvand. From September 12 to November 29.
- Illustration workshop, by Lola Araque. Thursday, October 10, 2024
- Tour of the Casa del Agua Museum. October 18 and 19, November 16 and 30.
- Conference: “Journeys by Water: The green revolution in Al-Andalus,” given by Luis Celorio (director of the Casa del Agua Museum) and Francisco Gamero Gutiérrez (speleologist). October 30, 2024
- Guided tour on “Water in Andalusian Cordoba,” by archeologist Belén Vázquez. Thursday, October 31 at 10:00 a.m.
