Casa Árabe and the PHotoESPAÑA Festival have decided to further promote the cooperation that began several years ago and has led to such positive results at various photography exhibitions organized at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Madrid over the past few years. With this goal in mind, Casa Árabe and PHotoEspaña are jointly presenting NUR | نور (Luz), an open call to select an exhibition proposal of a photographic nature to be presented at the Casa Árabe headquarters as part of the PHotoESPAÑA International Photography Festival, within the official program of the twenty-fourth edition held in 2021.
 
The purpose of this open call for entries is to lend visibility and increase awareness about a project that offers a look at one or several aspects of Arab societies from a contemporary curatorial perspective. This call aims to reward efforts in innovation, while conveying up-to-date content related with real-life situations in the contemporary Arab world. These contents have deliberately been made open-ended and thematically free so that initiatives of a very diverse nature can be accommodated, without conditioning contents, approaches or working techniques. Projects devoted to one single artist and those of a collective nature may be submitted, as well.

The call for entries is intended for curators and institutions. The selected project will be shown to the public through an exhibition to be held at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid (at Calle Alcalá, 62) in June 2021, as part of the twenty-fourth edition of the PHotoEspaña Festival.

The deadline for submitting candidate projects will is March 14, 2021.
