On Friday, November 21, we will be hosting a second session about filmmaker Rosalind Nashashibi, with a 16 mm screening of three of her films: Bachelor Machines Part 1, Footnotes and Eyeballing. Come find out more about this director’s work as part of our Palestinian Film Festival

Bachelor Machines Part 1 (Rosalind Nashashibi, 2007, 30 minutes)
The film, which follows an all-male crew on a cargo ship traveling from southern Italy to Sweden, is both a mixture of the visceral and the mechanical, a constant exploration of the relationships found within the mundane, as explored by Nashashibi. The predictable aspects of sailing are, in fact, simple and routine, until the forces of nature takes hold of them on some unexpected occasion.

Footnotes (Rosalind Nashashibi, 2006, 2 minutes)
Silent film.

Eyeballing (Rosalind Nashashibi, 2005, 10 minutes)
The anthropomorphic city. A series of faces found on building façades and objects around an apartment are juxtaposed with shots of uniformed officers loitering around the local police station.

After the screenings, there will be a film colloquium moderated by Sergio de Benito.
