Casa Árabe is hosting this conference organized by the Ibn Battuta Foundation in Madrid on Thursday, May 26. You can watch it live on YouTube.
In recent years, a rebound in xenophobic ideologies and the after-effects of the economic crisis have given rise to situations which produce segregation and an increase in racist attitudes in many of Madrid’s neighborhoods. In order to prevent and/or avoid racist and xenophobic conflicts, the Ibn Battuta Foundation holds activities to foster and inspire social cohesiveness, integration and co-existence.
The goal is to promote spaces for debate and interaction, where the attempt is made to move forward from just determining what difficulties exist to sharing actual experiences and positive proposals, in which diversity is a source of wealth and stimulating challenges allow mature and democratic societies to grow within a context of global citizenship.
The Awareness Day will be held as a space for participation by regular people, aiming to increase the visibility of experiences involving intercultural empowerment taking place in different areas, as well as making proposals for an intercultural society not only through academia, but also through real action that has already been implemented by public services. To register just fill in the following form.
With the participation of Bárbara Ruiz-Bejarano, International Relations Director at the Halal Institute and Director of the Halal School; Maysoun Douas Maadi, PhD in Physics, expert in innovation and co-founder of Excellenting; and Mohamed Lemrini, an expert in Communication. Moderated by Mohamed Said Ribbi Khalifi, youth coordinator for the Ibn Battuta Madrid Foundation.
