From February 4 to May 13, Casa Árabe is offering the second part of this artistic training course in Cordoba to all those who, regardless of their artistic training, wish to learn about and analyze art in its different variant forms. The 14 sessions, taught by Professor Marisa Campillo, will be held weekly on Tuesdays and will include both theoretical concepts and guided tours (given by interested students).
With the European military conquests in Asia and Africa since the beginning of the nineenth century as a result of imperialism and colonialism, the visual representation of “Oriental” themes intensified.
Scenes of colonial battles, landscapes and exotic characters abound, in both the sketches by romantic travelers (Alexandre Dumas and David Roberts), as well as the large format works by painters (Eugène Delacroix and Fortuny).
Orientalist painting adapted to different styles: academicism, romanticism, realism, modernism, impressionism or fauvism. And it cultivated various genres: historical, the nude, the landscape...
A distant and unknown world for Europeans eventually led to a movement which permeated the other arts: literature, music and textile products.
The course is designed to attract a specific group of people who are interested in culture and wish to broaden their knowledge of art.

- To provide participants with all of the knowledge they require for a greater awareness of the art and culture in their surrounding environment.
