Established in 2006 as a public diplomacy instrument intended to bring the Arab world closer to Spain, Casa Árabe—from its offices in Madrid and Cordoba—has helped reshape both Spain’s image in Arab countries and that of the contemporary Arab world on the Iberian Peninsula; and because Spanish is used as a vehicle for spreading knowledge across the Atlantic, our institution has also done such work there.

Throughout this journey, we have forged numerous friendships with institutions and individuals, driven by a deep belief in cooperative networks and multiple affiliations: across the Mediterranean, Europe and Africa, and in the academic, diplomatic, cultural and business worlds.  

Casa Árabe’s twentieth anniversary is a celebration not only of the consolidation of an institution, but also the deepening of a historic bond between Spain and the Arab countries—a relationship forged out of shared memories and intertwined present and future interests—as well as a renewed commitment to build further bridges in a world increasingly in need of dialogue.

To achieve these goals, Casa Árabe has planned a special program for 2026, coinciding with the celebration of the Year of Averroes in Cordoba, which will be starting at our Madrid headquarters with the opening of the exhibition  رحلة عمر - Time Together - 2006-2026: 20 Years of Casa Árabe and friendship between Spain and the Arab World.
