In order to mark this anniversary, which is commemorated every year on November 29, Casa Árabe is devoting a whole week of activities to the issue. Check out the schedule below.
Since 1977, the UN has been commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29 of each year. The date was chosen for its importance to the Palestinian people because three decades earlier, on the same day in 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 181, later known as the “partition resolution,” which provided for the creation of a “Jewish State” and an “Arab State” in Palestine, with Jerusalem as an international city. Of the two states foreseen in that resolution, up to now only one has been created: Israel. This anniversary allows the international community to focus its attention on the fact that the Palestine issue has not yet been resolved.
Throughout the week, two banners with the Palestinian flag will hang from the façade of Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid. The activities scheduled on the occasion of this commemoration are as follows:
Tuesday, November 26
- Presentation of “Things you may find hidden in my ear,” by Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha (Madrid).
Wednesday, November 27
