We are hosting a new workshop on the Al-Andalus scholar Averroes, to mark the 900th anniversary of his birth. On this occasion, we will be exploring his legacy by studying geometry as a representation of order, proportion and logic. It will be taking place in Cordoba on Thursday, June 11. Sign up now so you don’t miss out!
The geometric designs found in Al-Andalus architecture and art reflect a worldview based on order, proportion and logic. In this workshop, participants will create compositions inspired by Al-Andalus’ tiles, exploring patterns and symmetries.
This activity connects with the intellectual context in which Averroes lived, at a time when mathematics and philosophy were used on a common quest for harmony.
