Frantz Fanon and Algeria, 50 Years After Independence
From February 15, 2012 until March 20, 2012On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Algeria’s independence, on March 20th Casa Árabe organizes in Madrid a lecture on the narrow connection between this country and the psychiatrist, philosopher and French revolutionary Frantz Fanon, author of Les Damnés de la terre [The Wretched of the Earth], a reference on post-colonial studies and the man who had a great influence in both national liberation and decolonization movements. -

The adventure of the flute and the rope
From March 20, 2012 until April 11, 2012On Wednesday April 11th, Casa Árabe launches a calligraphy and live music performance, an artistic dialogue between the calligraphist Khaled Al-Saai and the lute player Hames Bitar. Inspired by the Arab lute music being played, Al-Saai’s calligraphy creation process will be shown live over a big screen. -

Exhibition Jameel Prize 2011
From March 20, 2012 until July 15, 2012Casa Árabe hosts this exhibition in Madrid in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum of London. The 10 finalist pieces of work of the prestigious prize Jameel will be displayed.
