By doing this, Casa Árabe is once again collaborating with the Cordoba City Council’s Department of Education and Children’s Services on a new edition of the educational program “Discover Cordoba’s Courtyards,” which aims to “promote knowledge about the emblematic festival of Cordoba’s May festivities and one of the city’s four World Heritage Sites.
The Department of Education and Children’s Affairs organized this series of activities, consisting of workshops for students and families about the courtyards focusing on the senses, and the life and customs in these traditional spaces. They were held at 15 schools, with 716 students taking part in all. There were also tours of the courtyards in eleven neighborhoods around the city, music-related activities, and a courtyards contest at schools.
This year’s new feature was the “Escape City Cordoba Courtyards,” in which Casa Árabe participated. It consisted of “a game with a route in which students had to find certain clues throughout the area of San Basilio -Alcázar Viejo- and act as if they were Unesco investigators.” Five schools took part in the activity, which included 283 students in all.
The proposal was created for the Department of Education and Children’s Affairs by Cordoba consultant Zumaya, and was showcased by Gloria Pareja.
