At Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba, you can now visit the collaborative work known as “tatreez,” made with the contributions by those attending our workshops in November and December, along with contributions sent in from home. Come see it!

Throughout the months of November and December 2023, Casa Árabe launched a series of activities revolving around “tatreez,” or traditional Palestinian embroidery, which included a series of workshops given by the Spanish-Palestinian artists and cultural embroiderers Dina Asfour, and Maysun Cheikh Ali Mediavilla.

The workshops, providing a space for meeting and sharing, were intended to raise awareness about the different varieties and dimensions of Palestinian embroidery, its significance in terms of Palestinian identity and culture, as well as in the economy and society, thus creating networks and job opportunities for locals and the refugee population, above all among women.

Furthermore, for those who were unable to take part in the workshops, Casa Árabe offered instructions and designs for producing pieces from the home and sending them in so as to create this collective work.

The end result of this collaborative craftwork can now be viewed at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba, where it will remain on display until June 30. To mark the holding of Courtyards Festival of Cordoba, we will be extending our opening times Mondays through Fridays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 to 10:00 p.m.As an exception, on weekends, including May 4, 5, 11 and 12, we will remain open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. (on Sunday, May 12 until 8:30 p.m.)
