Dr. Muhammad Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League and President of the Islamic Cultural Center, visited Casa Árabe to give a conference titled ”World peace, mutual understanding and dialogue between civilizations.” He had previously met with the General Director of Casa Árabe, Miguel Moro Aguilar, with whom he agreed upon the importance of organizing events that build bridges between cultures in a constantly changing world.

The conference, held in the Casa Árabe Auditorium, focused on the importance of seeking peaceful solutions and promoting, now more than ever, exchanges between civilizations, as well as the need to continue fostering mutual understanding.

Having received acknowledgment by the UN, ICESCO and several Heads of State, Al-Issa has worked actively to defend global peace and Islamic unity, as well as fighting against extremism. In recent years, he has been honored as an International Ambassador of Peace, promoting sustainability and interfaith respect in global forums.

The Muslim community in Spain is now greater than 2.5 million people—a figure estimated by the Union of Spain’s Islamic Communities (UCIDE) and the Observatorio Andalusí—which represents about 5% of the official national population according to Spain’s National Statistical Institute (INE). Of these, approximately 1.3 million are foreign nationals (mostly Moroccans, followed by Pakistanis and Senegalese), and just over one million possess Spanish nationality, including naturalized citizens and descendants born in Spain.

Madrid’s Islamic Cultural Center, home to the M-30 Mosque, is a non-profit religious organization and the largest mosque in Spain. It houses a school, a library, two exhibition halls and a museum that works to disseminate knowledge and culture.
