Iraqi artist Hanoos visits Casa Árabe 

The artist was welcomed by the director of Casa Árabe, Miguel Moro Aguilar, and the assistant director and programming coordinator, Cristina Juarranz.

At the meeting, held on September 10 in Madrid, Hanoos spoke with the director of Casa Árabe about his current projects, his creative process and his lengthy career. 

Over the years, the artist has collaborated on numerous occasions with Casa Árabe, where several of his works have been shown to the Madrid public, including his book “From the Euphrates: Image as destination (Didot, 2017), and the exhibition “Hilos de luz” (Threads of Light), a series of canvases inspired by the verses of poet Abdal Wahab al Bayati, on display at the Casa Árabe headquarters in Madrid and Córdoba in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Hanoos earned his bachelor’s degree and PhD in Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad and completed his education in Europe, taking an interest in Plato, Aristotle and Arab philosophers such as the mystic Ibn Arabi and other contemporary thinkers who have helped him develop a highly nuanced aesthetic discourse. He has had more than forty solo exhibitions, participated in over a hundred group exhibitions and won 37 painting awards. His work is an example of the harmonious fusion between East and West on a cultural level, contributing to the construction of a world without borders.
