Meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sudan  

Casa Árabe’s director, Miguel Moro Aguilar, held a meeting with Ahmed Yousif Mohamed Elsiddig, at which they discussed opportunities for joint collaboration, among other issues. 

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan, Ahmed Yousif Mohamed Elsiddiq, visited the Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid on Monday, February 9, where he met with our institution’s General Director, Miguel Moro Aguilar. During the meeting, the two officials discussed the situation in the African country, as well as the potential for establishing joint collaboration to raise awareness of the socio-political and cultural situation in Sudan through Casa Árabe’s schedule of activities.

Over the years, Casa Árabe has devoted numerous activities to Sudan, which was one of its “Focus Countries” in 2024. It also scheduled a contemporary art exhibition about it, as well as screenings of films, theatrical productions, a concert and conferences at which we analyzed the country’s reality. 

Since September 2023, the Spanish Embassy in Sudan has been temporarily relocated to Cairo, Egypt, due to the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has led to a civil war with no prospects for a ceasefire in the short term.
