Spain and Libya established diplomatic relations on January 14, 1961. Spain has an economic interest in the country’s future. Despite instability in recent years, Libya has been one of our main suppliers of crude oil (in 2024, the fifth largest supplier).
In February 2025, a sector-wide trade mission (the first since 2014) consisting of 11 companies from AGRAGEX (the Spanish Association of Manufacturers-Exporters of Agricultural Machinery and Components, Greenhouses, Plant Health and Nutrition, Irrigation Systems, Livestock Equipment, Animal Health and Nutrition, Forestry, Biomass and Post-Harvest Machinery, Maintenance and Storage) went on a trade mission to Libya.
