For yet another year, Casa Árabe is taking part in the Cordoba Festival of Courtyards, as a non-competing participant, to be held in the city from May 4 to 17. This time around, we will be extending our headquarters’ opening times for visitors each Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:30 to 10:00 p.m. As an exception, on weekends (on the dates of May 9, 10, 16 and 17) we will remain open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. (on Sunday, May 17 until 8:30 p.m.).
The Casa Mudéjar building consists of a set of five different houses linked together by corridors, passageways and stairwells, with four courtyards (three of which can be visited) and a turret. The original building dates back to the fourteenth century, though most of the current structures are from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. It is located within the southern part of Cordoba’s Historical Center near the Mosque-Cathedral, within the area declared to be a World Heritage Site. Spain’s National Heritage Entity has assigned this historical building to Casa Árabe for use as its headquarters in Cordoba.
For the occasion, visitors will get the chance to discover the mural created by Italian-Egyptian artist Mosa One inside the Patio de la Palmera, which he created to mark the occasion of World Art Day. It also forms part of the exhibition “From Alif to Zain: Calligraphic art in motion.”
In addition to this, Casa Árabe is displaying the photography exhibition “Amazigh Spaces,” through which visitors can take a journey through the history of North Africa and the culture of the Amazigh people.
