The band Sinouj and guitarist Antonia Jiménez will be joining together for a unique concert, at which Arab and Mediterranean traditions will be merging with contemporary jazz and instrumental flamenco. Performing a repertoire that includes compositions by Sinouj, pieces by Antonia herself and traditional Arab and Iberian tunes, their collaboration invites us to go on an exciting musical journey. Enveloping rhythms, captivating melodies and a richness of sound that transcends borders will all make this show an unforgettable experience.
The show combining the innovative strength of Sinouj and the flamenco mastery of Antonia Jiménez, in a musical encounter where Arab roots, Afro-Mediterranean jazz and flamenco form a dialogue spoken in a unique language.
Sinouj, led by saxophonist Pablo Hernández, fuses contemporary jazz with musical traditions from the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa, adding touches of funk, rock and electronic music. Their performance stands out due to its mixture of instruments such as the Arabic violin and the Persian ney, with harmonic and rhythmic structures which approach modern jazz. The band has worked with renowned artists such as Jorge Pardo, Guadiana and Kaveh Sarvarian, and it has taken its music to jazz and world music festivals in Europe, Africa and the Americas.
As for guitarist and composer Antonia Jiménez, she is one of the great figures in flamenco today. She has accompanied legends such as Carmen Linares, Rocío Márquez and Miguel Poveda, as well as collaborating with notable dancers like Marco Flores, Manuel Liñán and Olga Pericet. Her virtuoso performances as a soloist have allowed her to perform at major flamenco festivals all over the world, including the Jerez Festival, Flamenco on Fire and the London Flamenco Festival.
Together, Sinouj and Antonia Jiménez will be weaving together a show that forms a sonic journey without borders, in which Arab and Mediterranean traditions merge in a passionate dialogue among jazz, flamenco and world music. On stage, the warm depth of the flamenco guitar meets vibrant beats and contemporary harmonies, giving rise to an experience that transcends both genres and traditions. This forms a crossroads at which improvisation and emotion follow new paths, exploring uncharted territories while demonstrating that music, in its purest essence, is a
universal language.
