“Steps for Palestine: Dabke through the Diaspora” is a series of workshops that seeks to promote and increase awareness about the dabke as one of the forms of cultural expression best representing Palestine. Throughout this series of seven theoretical/practical sessions, not only will we be learning about the technique and movements in this type of dance, but we will also be forming a space for reflection on the value of performing arts in Palestine and among its diaspora, highlighting its role in the preservation of cultural identity and its ability to tell stories and pass on values.

Social interpretations (Dabke at weddings, in institutional spaces, activism, resistance and the diaspora).
Choreographic Section:
Review of the previous class.
Further practice of Ya Zareef, Qarradiye and Tayara style.
Improvisation.The workshops will be given by Francisco Montero Lahsen and Francisco J. Fernández.
