Casa Árabe reopens its doors on Monday, June 8 in Cordoba and Madrid
In Cordoba, thanks to the fact that the province has entered Phase 3 of
coronavirus “de-escalation,” we are offering a special series of live
activities. In Madrid, our opening is limited to the exhibition halls.
Our online activities will be continuing, as well.

Therefore, Casa Árabe will be opening its installations up to the public, while also seeking to protect all of its staff and visitors by achieving strict fulfillment of the regulations implemented by the Government and the various bodies of the Public Administration.
In this sense, everyone will be required to use face masks and hand sanitizer, and there will be strict control of building capacity and social distancing. Facilities will undergo thorough cleaning on a daily basis with added disinfection measures once the scheduled activities have come to an end.
As for our Cordoba headquarters, in addition to other activities, we will resume the scheduled events that were suspended due to confinement, including:
- Educational workshops for young people and adults, about archeology and history, in conjunction with Sextomario.
- Master class series: Origins of Arab-flamenco fusion, given by dancer Carolina Prior.
- Film series with cinema from the United Arab Emirates.
- Guided tours of the Casa Mudéjar.
- Concert with Egyptian composer and guitarist Ali Khattab (further information coming soon).
- Exhibition: “When drawing heritage becomes art,” by the group Urban Sketchers Córdoba.
- Exhibition: “The Moroccans: Photographs by Leila Alaoui .”
- Conference series: “Islamophobia: Challenges in the twenty-first century” (further information coming soon).
In Madrid, two exhibitions are opening to the public. The first, titled “Limitless: Artistic (de-)construction of borders,” was supposed to have officially opened on March 11, and therefore it is an absolute premiere for the city. The exhibition brings together the work of 16 young Jordanian artists, including both men and women, and was given the support of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. Moreover, we are providing the public with the exhibition catalogue free of charge, with a bilingual edition in Spanish and Arabic. The second exhibition we will be opening to the public is “Gods of the Frontier,” a project by artist Clara Carvajal that delves into the visual memory of Lebanon.
At the same time, our online activities will continue: we have begun registration for our intensive and semi-intensive summer Arabic courses at the Arabic Language Center, the virtual exhibition “Pop Art vs. Covid continues, along with the Arabic calligraphy display given by Pablo Casado, and the series of interviews titled “Experiencing Islam in times of the pandemic.” And on June 10, we will be interviewing Moroccan writer Abdellah Taïa.
You can find the full information about these activities, along with schedules schedules and entrance conditions on our website and Casa Árabe’s social media channels (on (Youtube, Instagram, Facebook , Twitter and SoundCloud).
