Casa Árabe at the forty-fifth Cordoba Guitar Festival

As it does every year, the institution is joining in the celebration of Cordoba’s premier summer music event, which will hold its 45th edition from July 1 to July 11, 2026. For the occasion, we’re participating with a concert and an educational session. See the program provided below.
On Wednesday, July 8, the Góngora Theater will be hosting a concert by Cardamom Trío, accompanied by singer Linda Alahmad. The event will be taking place as of 8:30 p.m., with tickets on sale through the Festival website.
The day after, on Thursday, July 9, the institution will be joining up with the Festival’s educational program, through the organization of a course on the Arabic oud, to be given by Syrian oud player Hames Bitar. This session will begin at 11:00 a.m., and admission is free upon registration on the Festival’s website.
Casa Árabe’s participation in the Cordoba Guitar Festival has taken form over the course of 18 editions and dates back to 2007, when the institution promoted the concert by Palestinian musician Simon Shaheen & Qantara. Since then, it has maintained an ongoing partnership with this prestigious festival, organizing performances like the one by the Moroccan Majid Bekkas (2008); the concert by Lebanese composer and oud player Rabih Abou-Khalil alongside Portuguese fado singer Ricardo Ribeiro (2009); the performance by Trío Joubran (2010); the concert by the Egyptian sextet led by Moddathir Aboul Wafa (2011); the participation by the Tunisian group Fawzi Chekili Quartet (2012); the official presentation of the thirty-thirdedition of the festival at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid, featuring a performance by Amir John Haddad and José Luis Montón (2013); the concert by the renowned Iraqi lute player Naseer Shamma (2014); the performance by the duo consisting of Ali Khattab and Hesham Essam (2015); the concert by Amir John Haddad “El Amir,” accompanied by guest performers like Jorge Pardo and Eva Durán (2016); the performance by Tunisian musician Dhafer Youssef (2017); the concert by the experimental music group Lekhfa (2018); and the show ”Tribute to the Ladies of Arabic Song,” held at Medina Azahara (2019). After the hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we scheduled a concert by the band Darawish and the meeting with Arabic oud player Hames Bitar as part of the initiative “La Guitarra Cuenta” (2021); the performance by Vasilis Kostas & Layth Sidiq Duo and the classical guitar recital by Cecilia Moreno at Casa Árabe (2022); the concert by the Moroccan group Tarwa N-Tiniri (2024); and the show by the group Sinouj along with Antonia Jiménez at the Góngora Theater (2025). At the same time, Casa Árabe has contributed on an ongoing basis to the festival training program by organizing and supporting courses, meetings and academic activities related to Arab music and the guitar, thereby reinforcing the event’s educational and intercultural dimensions.
